Words of wisdom from John Green

“Maybe our favorite quotations say more about us than about the stories and people we're quoting.”

It is not surprising to hear insightful words from John Green, his books, particularly The Fault in our Stars, turn me into a trembling, bleary eyed mess with his poignant love stories juxtaposed with dark brazen statements that are terrifying because they are true. I don't know whether I'm normal but one wall in my room is covered with bits of paper and print outs with lines from my favourite poems, beautiful phrases and words. I feel like if you want to get to know me you could spend 5 minutes reading my wall and you would know me better than having spent the day with me. I feel I am constantly searching for that line that captures how I feel, and when I can't find it I try and write it myself. I have spent hours carefully writing each line out to be placed on my wall, this is extremely calming and cathartic experience for me. When I fall asleep I feel safe, surrounded by beautiful words and intentions. So yes the combination of quotations that I surround myself do say a lot about me. This is particularly important in terms of my project, what would other people's walls look like? Even if they do not stick them up people must have particular lines or sentences that resonate deep within them?
