Sexual Objectification by Laci Green (aka actual heroine)

The poetry I am going to visualise is going to be about sexual objectification and how it can seriously affect a woman's relationship with her own body. This is a fantastic video which really sums it up

"seeing women as sex objects is part of our cultural subconscious" I really like this phrase, "our cultural subconscious" is warped we accept the objectification of women as a normality and we don't challenge it enough. Most importantly men do not challenge it enough, and some do not even see the problem as it serves their needs. This just shows how deeply rooted it is.

"96% of sexual objectificating imagery is of women's bodies"

"that men are mostly sexual subjects while women are mostly sexual objects,
in this kind of culture men are granted more sexual power than women which leads us to see the world through mens eyes" I think this is one of the most dangerous things about sexual objectification, women are robbed of their sexuality because their sexuality is constantly being defined by men for men. This is harmful to a woman's development and happiness.

"we learn that male sexuality is active that they're visual creatures and that the objectification of women in their life, using women for sex is both normal and praiseworthy" Women are not only portrayed as sexually passive and submissive but are portrayed to enjoy their submissiveness. This idea is only fuelled by pornography which shows scene after scene of sexual domination of man over woman. This just continues the idea that it is the male's pleasure which is only important, the woman is the object which provides this and not seen as an equal but used.

"because womens bodies are subject to constant frivolous criticism girls learn quickly to self objectify" THIS is seriously an important point, women are always  being told in magazines about how to be more attractive to men, as if it is our only goal to please a man. This self objectifying also leads to tense relationships between women, women are so quick to judge and bitch about other women. Sexual objectification sets women up against each other as if it is some grand competition to be the most attractive and most pleasing to the male. This is so dangerous as it makes women preoccupied with judging each other that they do not challenge the sexual objectification in itself.
